FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much can I fit in the 35 cooler?
36 x 330ml cans (filled with whatever quenches your thirst). We haven't measured it in steaks, sandwiches or brisket yet.
Is the cooler heavy and how much does the cooler weigh?
Fill it with 36 x 330ml cans of beer, and it will weigh a bit more than 36 cans of beer.
This hard cooler weighs less than 9kg, coming in at 8.7kg when empty.
How long will cold things stay cold?
So many things can change which is why we're not stating a set time.
But when we've tested our coolers, we placed it in our kitchen with a couple of bags of ice in and after 7 days, there was still ice left!
Can I use my cooler to keep things hot?
We believe cold beers are better than warm beers. But yes, this "cooler" is perfect for resting that slab of brisket or keeping those sausage rolls warm for a picnic.
Can I use it to hold and rest meat (brisket/pork shoulders etc) after cooking?
Absolutely! Our cooler is perfect for helping to rest meat and retaining temperature.
Our Orbie Coolers are rotomoulded using LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) with a safe temperature range of -50 to 85C. The melting point is 105 to 115C.
As with any rotomoulded cooler, considerations need to be taken when using high heat liquids. The construction of our Orbie Coolers means that it is safe to use boiled water that has settled to a temperature of 85C to warm your Orbie to hold those briskets and pork shoulders at temperature (our team has done this multiple times ourselves during testing). we recommend wrapping the meat with foil and a kitchen cloth or towel to help keep the meat warm and to protect the cooler.
Following these steps will ensure you get the most out of your Orbie for holding meat at temperature for a long period of time while avoiding the risk of damaging the construction and affecting it's longevity.
How durable really is the rugged cooler?
Well it hasn't been attacked by a polar bear. But it is rotomolded to produce a one-piece lid and base with no weak joins that means this cooler will withstand endless adventures.
